Sometimes I shoot for 8+ hours and walk away feeling like I’ve wasted my entire day.. this however was not one of those days.

I woke up today with a bad feeling in my stomach and I couldn’t figure out why. I feel sick and I miss someone.

I got your package and letter the other day. That day was so depressing and when I checked the mail and ripped open the package to find the envelope with the gorgeous sketches, my day was made. Actually just seeing the plain envelope made me happy! The necklace is so cute, I’ve worn it non-stop, but the photo and letter… truly amazing dear. I am so happy to have an original photo from you. More importantly your personal message got me giddy! It wouldn’t have creeped me out at all.

Wednesday night I got home from work when I heard a kitten crying outside the bedroom window. I got on my boots, grabbed a flashlight, and started looking through the bushes trying to follow the sound of the kitten’s cries. Finally, I saw a little patch of white darting from bush to bush. With some cheese I was able to trick the kitten into coming out so I could get a good look. This sweet, innocent kitten popped out and I noticed a bite mark above her right eye with fur missing. I scooped her into my arms and brought her upstairs, the entire time she was shaking. We made her a box with a towel and gave her some of my cat’s old toys. In no time she was completely comfortable, trying to jump out of the box to adventure through the apartment. My initial plan was to keep her over night so she wouldn’t be out in the cold. Then the next day I would ask around and see if anyone was missing a kitten. If not I planned to take her to a shelter. I have an older cat who has been traumatized by an earlier attack from another kitten we saved, so I felt like it was unfair to keep this kitten. The more I watched her bounce around my room, the more I became attached. She slept all through the night up until about 6 am. The next day I went to my neighbor’s and he didn’t answer the door. The kitten was tired at about 8 am, she was falling asleep on my bed so I picked her up and put her back in the box. I watched her fall asleep sitting up, swaying back and forth like a drunk person. Then when she fell asleep, I got back into bed hoping I’d be able to nap while she slept. Just as I laid down, she jumped out of the box and onto to the bed and laid in the crook of my arm. Just then I realized I had to keep her. My sister and I came up with the name sushi. I think it fits her perfectly.
